Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively with PI researchers, assist them in the preparation of their applications, including: review of proposal and budget, fact checking, editing, grant submission support, etc. all while respecting the unique research environment of PI
- Conduct ongoing research of the grant and award landscape in order to identify possible revenue opportunities
- Develop and maintain a grant database which hosts complete and accurate files and information for each assigned grant or award, including documentation received from funders
- Act as a key point of contact for all new grant and award opportunities as well as answer questions related to potential grant applications including: requirements, deadlines, formatting, and other administrative details
- Work collaboratively with universities, research entities, and funders to ensure that guidelines and timelines related to all active grants and awards are followed
- Work across PI departments to track funding and assist in the preparation of applications and reports to funders as needed
Required Skills:
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a relevant field is required
- Possesses a thorough understanding of the granting landscape, including the ability to evaluate and determine the complexities of each grant opportunity
- Knowledge of Canadian grant opportunities (tri-council grants especially) and the Canadian Common CV System (https://ccv-cvc.ca/indexresearcher-eng.frm) as well as previous experience working within a research, academic, or not for profit environment will be considered assets in this role
- Outstanding attention to detail evidenced through the ability to proof read and fact check with speed and accuracy
- Advanced skills working with Microsoft Office programs, in particular Word and Excel, as well as experience developing and managing databases
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, are required
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to work successfully in a team setting or independently are critical for success in this position
