Perimeter Institute invites applications for up to two tenure track faculty positions (equivalent to the level of assistant professor) in quantum information science.  Exceptional candidates may also be considered for tenured senior faculty positions.  We welcome applications from outstanding individuals working on aspects of quantum information related to fundamental theoretical physics. The successful applicants will play a leading role in integrating Perimeter's quantum information activities with the other research areas at the Institute, such as condensed matter theory, quantum foundations, quantum fields, holography and tensor networks. These positions are part of a new Quantum Matter Initiative at Perimeter, which is expected to grow into a Centre for Quantum Matter (CQM) at the Institute. More information on the current Quantum Matter Initiative can be found here.  As part of this project, Perimeter is also searching to fill a number of tenure track faculty positions in Condensed Matter Theory.

Perimeter Institute is a leading global centre for fundamental research in theoretical physics. It is home to world class research efforts in condensed matter physics, cosmology, mathematical physics, quantum fields and strings, quantum foundations, quantum gravity, quantum information and particle physics. The Institute offers an exceptional research environment and is currently staffed with 23 faculty and 17 associate faculty members, as well as 55 postdoctoral fellows, 54 distinguished visiting research chairs and 35 visiting fellows. The Institute’s very active visitor, seminar, conference and workshop programs also attract over one thousand visitors each year. More information about Perimeter Institute is available here and the quantum information researchers can be found here.

The successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics or a closely related field, postdoctoral experience, and will have demonstrated exceptional strength in independent research. Interested candidates should submit their application online, including their curriculum vitae, list of publications and research statement. They must also arrange to have at least three letters of recommendations submitted as well, following the instructions provided on the application page.

Consideration of applications will begin on March 1, 2019. However, applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.

Perimeter Institute is committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous/Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2 persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. Applicants who require special accommodation in order to complete their application/interview are encouraged to contact peopleandculture@perimeterinstitute.ca for assistance.
